"So then Daph said, 'I didn't know it was your brother!'" Christina laughed at her own joke, and I secretly plotted Daphne's death.

The blind date she had set me on was an utter disaster. She had been completely honest in her description of her roommate Christina. To a point. You know that special point, the point of everything she says being true while leaving out the most important thing that could be mentioned. Christina was a very pretty girl with a perfect body and a great smile who loved nothing more than to talk all night. And, being slightly introverted and a good listener, that would be a great match.

Except that her voice was as annoying as the rest of the package was beautiful. So here I sat, numbly eating sashimi, hoping that G-d had pity on my soul and that there was contamination from mishandled Fugu on my dinner and that the neurotoxin would soon bring me death's sweet release.

No such luck.

Instead, I drowned my frustrations in hot sake. And with each shot of the rice wine, her voice softened and the stories got better. The toes sliding up and down my calf helped suitably distract me from everything else, and she didn't seem to care how glazed my eyes were (or that they kept getting lost in the ample cleavage her dress afforded).

She looked around and made some offhand remark about the two of us closing down the place. We were the only patrons left and half the chairs were stacked on tables. I slipped my AmEx to the waiter as her toe grazed my inner thigh. "Let's go back to my place," she murmured.

"No," I replied, remembering that the REAL reason we were on this date was that so Daphne could seduce their neighbor in peace, "let's head back to mine."

"Ooh," she replied, getting up to her feet, tugging the dress down to give me an larger view of that aforementioned ample cleavage, "naughty boy."

"Sure am. Go call for a cab and I'll finish the business here." She walked away, and I remembered the other advantage of going back to my place instead of hers was that if she got too too annoying, there was always the bright red ball gag in my bedside table to shut her the hell up.
