"Come on, I'll buy you a drink."

"You'll buy me a drink?" Sam giggled as she wrapped her arms around the one Max had offered, "It's an open bar."

"Even better, I can get you liquored up and not spend a dime." His laugh was soft, infectious and innocently flirtatious.

"Oh? Do you have designs on my virtue, Maximilian?" Her laugh was a living thing; deep and content. Full bodied the way that people would talk about fine wines. It was the kind of laugh that hung in the air like a hint like smoke and made you feel good to be alive.

"You know I hate it when you do that, Sam."

"Liar." She hoisted herself up onto a barstool with the help of his arm, "You love it and you know it."

"I'm not saying I loved it," He replied with a sharp grin, "but if I did, that came to an end when Jackie started to really wear it out"

"Yes, well, what can I say; I know how to turn a phrase." She smiled up at him, "You should feel lucky to be in my company tonight."

He leaned a little closer at the crowded bar and caught the mischievous look in her eyes. "Oh, believe me, I am. Tell me something; Do-"

"What can I get you?" The bartender interrupted, looking between the two of them.

"Two fingers of scotch, straight," Sam replied with a grin before turning her attention back to Max, "and for the lady?"

"Captain and Coke," He murmured, embarrassment clearly spreading across his face, "with a lime."

"Ooh. With a lime. Very masculine."

"Shut up," Max smiled and looked for something to concentrate on other than his embarrassment. He found it in Sam's deep, mischievous brown eyes.

"Make me."

He kissed her. It was a small, gentle kiss that an outside observer could almost overlook entirely, their lips brushing together for but a scant moment. To them however, it was like an atomic bomb going off. It caught Sam completely off guard and did precisely what she had ordered Max to do, shutting down every train of though before it could leave the station.

"You were saying something?" Max turned and picked up her Scotch, belting it back in one shot.

"That..."

"Yes?" His smile was growing by the moment.

"That wasn't fair," Sam murmured, releasing the breath she wasn't aware she had been holding.

"No, it wasn't." It was Max's turn to give the mischievous looks.

"Were did that come from?"

"From my lips."

"Brat."

"Sometimes."

"No really, that's not a fair thing to do to a girl." She was flush and flustered, wondering idly when exactly it was that the family of eels had taken up residence in her stomach.

"Why not?" His voice turned soft and Max moved in closer, gently brushing the back of his hand against her bared shoulder.

"Are you going to kiss me again, Maximilian?" She made it a dare, the mischief returning to her eyes, a small moan threatening to escape.

"If I do, will you stop calling me that?"

"Maybe."

"I'll take my chances."

"It's an open bar." LOL. Nice opening, sets a light hearted tone. Sam came across very well, I have a great image of her. I'm a bit puzzled about why rum, even in coke with lime, isn't very manly but maybe that's just me. But why is the rum gone
"If I do, will you stop calling me that?" I don't think she will :P They have a really great relationship, sweet but not saccharine.

That was cute and witty. :) I like how playful they are with one another; the dialogue and their actions show that nicely, without it being stated outright.

Yeah. They start out joking and kind of flirting, but once he kisses her, things become more serious, especially gauging her reaction.
